Carousel is so much more than a group of artists who exhibit together, although of course that is at the heart of what we do. The founding members were already friends, having met and bonded on the Advanced Textile Workshop at Morley College, and more recent recruits have added welcome new dimensions. Friendship and mutual support through life’s vicissitudes are what hold us together, and this year marks the 10th anniversary of the group’s formation.
To celebrate, and to round off our River Thames theme, most of us caught the river taxi from Waterloo to Greenwich, decked out in finery of our own making.
We had a splendid picnic in beautiful Greenwich Park, including a delicious birthday cake and rounded off with a fun bit of tree bark frottage, using leaves found on site and berries left over from the picnic.
I the true tradition of our Whatever-the-Weather outdoor activities, there was a sharp shower of rain, but we never let this deter us!
