On 25 February we had a wonderful day learning about the many exciting ways to paint on fabric with renowned textile artist Sarah Campbell.
We all went home buzzing with ideas and full of enthusiasm to try more. Our thanks go to Carousel’s Julietta Gimpel and husband Charles for their generous hosting of the workshop in Charles’s fascinating studio, Mandinga Arts in Bermondsey and to Carousel member, Alex Mayer for organising the day.
Sarah is currently preparing for a retrospective of both her and her late sister’s work at the Fashion and Textile Museum. The show, Paint! Pattern! Print! opens on 27the March. You can also see her work at the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow as part of their exhibition on 100 years of Liberty fabrics, Women in Print.
