Frances Arnold

As a professional violinist my job is to accurately reproduce the creations of others, but the desire to be creative in my own right has always been strong. As a child I was always making things and as an adult I have worked with various materials over many years.

Stained glass has been a constant and my designs in other media are often influenced by the colours and constraints of working with glass. Working with fabric has opened up infinite new design possibilities and techniques, and I have used a variety of methods to suit the piece I am making.

My favoured fabric techniques are screen-printing, devoré and dyeing, and I like to use strong colours and relatively formal designs.
